2017 Recipe Contest Winners!

The grand prize winner of our annual Bella Sun Luci recipe contest, Lauren Katz, was awarded a $2,500 cash prize for her mouthwatering Shrimp and Zoodle Pappardelle with Bella Cream Sauce. Like all of the contestants, Lauren’s original award-winning dish featured at least one Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomato product as a key ingredient.

“This year’s competition was fierce but it’s interesting to me how clear it was that Lauren’s Shrimp and Zoodle recipe was the winner,” says Mooney Farms’ Corporate Chef, Richard Hirshen. “Her use of zucchini as the noodle is not necessarily a new concept, but using an everyday vegetable peeler and making it pappardelle was! This change from pasta to zucchini made the dish not only healthier but also gave it another taste profile to sink our teeth into. What a dish! Congratulations again, Lauren!”

We also named second and third place winners, who won a $500 cash prize and a deluxe gourmet Bella Sun Luci gift basket, respectively. Mary Edwards placed 2nd with her Grilled Skirt Steak with Mediterranean Relish – to die for – and Mike Watson was the 3rd Place Prize Winner with his delicious Mediterranean Feast, a wonderful combination of pasta, chicken, sun dried tomatoes, lemon, Feta and more. 

The 2017 contest ran from August 1 through July 1. In addition to the prizes, all winners will be featured on the our website and social media platforms.

Entries are now being accepted for the 2018 recipe contest, which will run until July 1, 2018. All interested contestants may learn more and submit their original recipe featuring a Bella Sun Luci product at BellaSunLuci.com/contest/.
