Ingredients

  • 12 mini burger buns, halved and lightly toasted
  • 12 small butter lettuce leaves
  • 2 lbs of ground beef (formed into 2" patties)
  • 12 slices of fresh mozzarella (cut to match the size of the patties)
  • 1 cup slice red onion
  • 12 Bella Sun Luci sun-dried tomatoes, drained (reserve the oil for future use)
  • 12 fresh basil leaves
  • ¼ cup Bella Sun Luci Tuscan Rub
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Balsamic glaze (optional)
  • 12 decorative skewers
  • Favorite condiment (ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard etc.)

Directions

Prepare the Patties:
  • Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.
  • Season the mini beef patties with Bella Sun Luci Tuscan Rub and salt.
  • Grill the patties for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. 
  • Place a slice of fresh mozzarella on the patty and allow it to slightly melt, then set patties aside.
Toast the Buns:
  • Lightly toast the mini burger bun halves on the grill or in a pan until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.
Assemble the Skewers:
  • Start by placing a toasted mini burger bun on a skewer.
  • Spread your favorite condiment on bun. 
  • Add a butter lettuce leaf.
  • Place a grilled mini beef patty on top of the lettuce.
  • Add a slice of red onion.
  • Top with a sun dried tomato.
  • Finish with a fresh basil leaf.
Drizzle and Serve:
  • Drizzle the assembled skewers with the reserved olive oil from the sun-dried tomatoes to enhance the flavors, and optional aged balsamic glaze.
